Happy Summer from Students at Vinelife!

16 06 2010

Exams are all done and the summer now stretches before you. Well done, you made it!! (Unless you’re a midwifery student or an RNCMer; in which case, keep going – you’re amazing!)

Just to let you know, the student blog will be a hive of activity over the summer months so make sure you’re checking back regularly and staying involved.

There will, however, be a slight hiatus before said flurry as I’m going away for a few weeks. (Why not have a scour through the last year’s posts and see what gems you can uncover?) But in the mean time don’t forget that Vinelife continues every Sunday morning throughout the summer, and that we have ‘The Month of Fun‘ coming up in July.

Hasta luego!

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” – 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

Apologetics in Manchester

27 05 2010

Morning all. A good friend of mine, Josh Thorp, is putting on an apologetics event a week on Saturday. It’s going to be on how we view the world, and how this affects the people we want to reach for Christ. I’m sure it’ll be really useful.

Check it out if you’re interested!

We need your input!

11 03 2010

So here’s the deal. I really like doing this blog, and I hope that some/most/all of the stuff is relevant and useful to you on some level. I’ve encouraged myself if nothing else!

But I’d love to get more input from you guys. It could be anything:

  • bits you’ve been reading in the bible
  • testimonies
  • prophetic words/pictures
  • recommendations and reviews
  • cool stuff on the internet – talks/websites etc
  • articles you’ve written

Basically anything that’s worth sharing!

So if that’s you, get involved! Just submit whatever you have up in the ‘contribute’ section.

Here’s a cool video from the I Am Second series. A little treat for visiting.

p.s. you should totally check out iamsecond.com – it’s great.

CLAIM YOUR FREE CD!!!

8 02 2010

Hey team,

Sorry there’s been a bit of a let-up in posting recently – holidays, venue moves, new jobs to do…you know how it goes!

Anyway, there a quite a few exciting things to make sure you’re aware about…

  1. Reach Weekend Away – it’s literally happening next week and although you’ve technically missed the booking deadline, if you get in touch ASAp we can still get you on the coach (Probably!!). It’s going to be such a great weekend that you should definitely get along to if you can!
  2. New prayer blog – one of the reasons i haven’t been blogging on here is cos I’ve been playing away on a different blog. Please check it out – vinelife.co.uk/prayer. Quite simply, the goal is get our community praying more. Have a read, it’ll change your life*
  3. RSS a.k.a Reach Saturday Studies is back on 27th Feb! We’re going to be working through the book of Hebrews with Chris – last term was brilliant and I’m sure this one will be too. We have changed venues tho…we’re going to be in one of the rooms at Manchester Academy.

Right, that should do you for now. I’m off to a Bill Johnson conference is about half an hour but I promise I’ll be back soon with some exciting content!

Oh, and there was never a CD. Sorry, I’m a bad person who couldn’t think of a good title for a highly uninteresting blog post.

* It might not actually change your life

RSS – Reach Saturday Studies

24 09 2009

rss flyer - term 1

In case you haven’t heard already, RSS is brand new this term!

The concept is simple: Bible study. Pure and simple.

Once a month on a Saturday morning we’ll be down at Nazarene Theological College, under the tutilage of PhD student Chris Foster and his wife Sarah, feeding on the word together. It’s going to be a great time for us to learn more about dealing with the scriptures as well as actually hearing God speak through them.

During the three sessions this term we’ll be taking a ‘macro’ approach to Bible study whereby we’ll looking to equip everyone in the generalities of Bible study as well as giving a contextual overview of both the Old and New Testaments. One of the books we’ll be using is How To Read The Bible For All Its Worth by Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart. Then after Christmas, we’ll be working through specific passages – using the tools we’ve acquired.

We’re so excited about this and hope you are too. Make sure you get along to the first one on 24th October. Drop the office a line if you want more info.
